Inspired by actual events during Australia’s 1970s Gay Rights Movement, Riot explores the origins of the activism that led to the world’s first Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. This film is inspired by actual events that occurred in Australia between 1972 and 1978. A group of Sydney based activists devised and participated in the world’s first Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
